Vine Records Issues Statement From Naomi Sego [UPDATED]
Christian Voice Magazine recently reported that Naomi Sego told their reporters that she had received a letter from former members Kasey Kemp and Judson Horner stating that they now owned the Sego name and that she would have to quit using the name. CVM also provided documentation of Kemp and Horner jointly registering "the Segos" as an LLC (Limited Liability Company) on April 28, 2008, in the state of North Carolina, with Judson Horner listed as the "initial registrant." Additionally, the web domain, http://www.thesegos.com , was registered on April 15, 2008. Judson Horner is listed as the registrant for the domain.Today, Vine Records, issued a press release where Naomi is quoted as saying, ""Contrary to recent misrepresentations, Kasey, Judson and I are on good terms. They are like sons to me and have never threatened me. The Sego name and rights are not and have not been in jeopardy. These boys have been an integral part of this group on multiple levels, and we have enjoyed our years on the road and writing this final chapter together. We will be promoting this recording together and doing interviews together. We may even do a few last stands together on select dates. I am grateful for all of these years and excited to be ending the group on a high note with this album. I will continue to travel as long as I can get up and get on the road. It's what I've done for so many years, and ministry is what I love to do."
Christian Voice Magazine had this to say about the above statements, "To say that we've misrepresented anything regarding this matter is completely and utterly false. We have published nothing but the facts. Every interview, every investigation and every phone call regarding this issue has been well documented. We continue to fully stand behind every report we've made."
In addition to reporting the above statement, Vine Records announced the release of the final project from Naomi & the Segos which includes former members Kemp and Horner. The recording, produced by Wayne Haun and Kevin Ward, entitled Happy Ending, will hit shelves nationwide on June 24th, distributed by Crossroads Entertainment and Marketing.
UPDATE:

When asked if Christian Voice Magazine had ever misrepresented anything in their news reports or statements attributed to her, she stated, "No, I was not misrepresented." When asked if she did receive a letter telling her to stop using the Sego name she replied, "One of the boys had left his car at my house, when they came to pick up the car, the letter was left in my back door." She confirmed that there was a time when the use of the name was in question, but upon recent counsel with her son the situation has been resolved and the parties are now working together. Naomi also stated she has no plans to retire and she has not decided the future of the Naomi and The Segos group.

Larry Ferguson Assistance Fund Set Up
Dear Friends,I am so excited that God has given me the opportunity to help a dear friend... and I hope you will help too.
The recent passing of Southern Gospel legend Dottie Rambo,.. has affected us all in one way or another. We miss her and cherish our memories of her. As fans.. we'll always have Dottie's wonderful music. She has left us more than we could ever give her.
I learned this week,.. that Dottie's death has affected her manager Larry Ferguson and his family, more than we can imagine. Before I go further.. let me say, Larry Ferguson has not asked for any assistance.. and this letter is solely my idea. In addition to losing his best friend.. and someone who was as close as any family member.. Larry has lost his job. Larry and his wife, Judy, were both employees of Dottie Rambo,.. so they now find themselves without income.. and no insurance. In fact, at the time of the tragic accident, Larry and Judy were due to receive payment of their salaries for the previous two weeks. That money never came. The Fergusons are facing immediate financial hardship.
This isn't a time to ask questions or try and figure out why Larry's family is in this situation. It's a time to do what God would have you do. God wanted me to send money.. and write this letter. I have done both. Now you can help too.
Here's a chance to give back. I have set up a special donation account for the family of Larry Ferguson. Please make a donation in any amount. You may donate through your PayPal account,.. or with most major credit cards. If you wish to remain anonymous.. please leave notice when you submit your donation. All funds will be given to Larry and Judy Ferguson. Thanks for your help.

Naomi Sego Speaks Out On Current Sego’s Name Usage
SGN has just learned that Naomi Sego has addressed some of the statements made by former member Kasey Kemp to the Christian Voice Magazine. Sego told CVM that she would issue a full, official public statement regarding her ministry and future plans shortly.Until that time, Sego addressed the following statements made by Kasey Kemp:
Kemp: “First of all, we DID discuss the possibility with Naomi about purchasing the name WHEN we were part of the group.”
Naomi states: “While nothing was mentioned about a “purchase” of the Sego name, Kasey did ask me about using the name. Permission to use the name was declined, as other Sego singers and family members would not approve.”
Kemp: “She said she would like to talk with her Son, but she didn't have any problems with it.”
Naomi states: “I did speak with my son, and he said, “no.” I never said I didn’t have a problem with it.”
Kemp: “...we obtained and filed the proper papers, which again, she DID know about.”
Naomi states: “This is untrue. I knew nothing of any papers filed until I received the letter from Kasey informing me that he had acquired the Sego name through an LLC, and demanded that I stop using the Sego name, or I would be found guilty of copyright infringement. The letter was not mailed, but found tucked in the back door of my home.”
Kemp: “There was a letter left for Naomi's new manager, Terry Dorsey, stating we had filed for the name as he was trying to relieve us from a weekend we had promised Naomi we would do. This weekend was to fulfill our commitment to her and end our five week notice. Terry did remove us from the weekend so he and former baritone, Scott Spangler, could sing with her in our place.”
Naomi states: “The letter was left at my back door. I retrieved the letter, which was addressed on the envelope to Naomi Sego Reader. Terry Dorsey did not remove anyone. I did. It was solely my decision.”
Kemp: “Again, this letter stating the ownership was given to Terry in hopes we could fulfill our last weekend with Naomi.”
Naomi states: “The letter was tucked in my back door, and addressed to me as Naomi Sego Reader.”
Kemp: “I spoke with Naomi's Son, Carlton Sego, several days ago to inform him of this entire matter and he is perfectly fine with the situation. He understands our original intent, and why we left the note.”
Naomi states: "To say that my son Carlton is 'perfectly fine' with the situation is not entirely true."
In addition, Naomi states that, contrary to what is being told, “While there has been financial stress at times, there has never been a week go by that those boys didn’t get paid while working for me. To say otherwise is completely untrue.”
According to Chistian Voice Magazine, the above statements have been published by CVM with permission from Naomi Sego. CVM honored Naomi’s wishes to publish her statements as approved by her and, at Naomi’s request, they will refrain from issuing further reports or comments regarding this matter until such statement is issued.

Rights To Sego Name in Question [UPDATED]
According to news reporters for Christian Voice Magazine, new information has surfaced concerning the departure of Kasey Kemp and Judson Horner from Naomi & The Segos. At some point last week Naomi Sego Reader told a CVM reporter that she had received a letter from former group members Kasey Kemp and Judson Horner stating that they owned the name, "The Segos" and informed her that she could no longer use "The Segos" as part of her group name. After using the name for over 50 years, Naomi is now being told she can no longer use the name, although it has been a professional name for James Sego, late husband of Naomi Sego Reader as The Sego Brothers and Naomi.
CVM investigation also revealed that Horner and Kemp jointly registered "the Segos" as an LLC (Limited Liability Company) on April 28, 2008, in the state of North Carolina, with Judson Horner listed as the "initial registrant." Additionally, the web domain, http://www.thesegos.com , was registered on April 15, 2008 with Judson Horner listed as the registrant for the domain.
Naomi Sego has expressed her hope of a peaceful resolve and desires the prayers of her friends and supporters.
UPDATE
Our offices were contacted by Kasey Kemp this morning with the following statements:
I have read the statment on your site and we have some MAJOR misunderstandings. While part of the group, Judson and I expressed interest in purchasing the Sego name. At that period in time, Naomi expressed her interest in us continuing beyond her retirement, whenever that may be. She told us she would like to speak to her son and would let us know the outcome. As you know, a process such as this is very lengthy and can sometimes take months. While still in question, we began the paper work hoping this would relieve Naomi of current stresses and allow us a secure future. However, when it became necessary for us to leave the group because of financial stress, we started the dissolution of the LLC. We did leave a letter concerning the ownership of the name, but it's intent was to stop Terry Dorsey from kicking us off dates we had promised to ful-fill. As a matter of fact, I have already spoken with Naomi's son, Carlton Sego about the dissolvement. He is in complete understanding of the original intent of the formation and has no problems with our actions. The reason it still appears on the government's site is because the process takes several days to remove it. However it IS inactive. There are no problems between us and Naomi and a call for a "peaceful resolvment" is not needed. There is nothing to resolve because we are NOT using the Sego name and never intend to without proper permission.
Our offices have been unable to confirm at this time to what extent Carlton Sego is involved in Naomi Sego's interests or in this situation.
